Ivan Fedorov, the leader of the military administration of the Zaporizhzhia region, stated to Ukrainian television that the power plant is no longer able to generate electricity.  Residents are compelled to drive across bridges in order to get around the plant since order to get around the plant since traffic is "totally jammed," he claimed.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy warned on Sunday of a "severe power shortfall" as a result of Russia's ongoing attack on important energy infrastructure this week.  According to the government, following "six significant strikes," emergency blackouts were implemented in a number of districts throughout Ukraine.

According to the Ministry of Energy in Ukraine, this is "the sixth large missile and drone strike on energy infrastructure since March 22." The ministry added that the attack occurred in the provinces of Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kirovohrad, and Ivano-Frankivsk.

These strikes were carried out "in reaction to attempts by the Kyiv government to disrupt Russian energy and transport facilities," according to Russia's defense ministry.  As aircraft attacks continue, Ukraine is losing ground on the front lines. By taking advantage of Ukraine's shortage of personnel and weapons, Russia launched a surprise offensive on northeastern Kharkiv in May, opening a new front.

While in Singapore for a military chiefs forum, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged nations in the Asia-Pacific region to participate in an impending peace conference that he said Russia was attempting to obstruct.  Although he acknowledged it was not enough, he praised US President Joe Biden for making "an important decision" to allow Ukraine to deploy US weapons for limited strikes within Russian territory.  A significant dam and hydroelectric power facility in southern Ukraine that was under Russian occupation fell last year. It was the Nova Kakhovka dam.

Although the exact reason for the collapse is still unknown, several specialists in civil engineering have proposed that an internal explosion within the dam was most likely the cause of the breach.  At the time, a number of Western politicians held Russia accountable for the catastrophe, either by accusing Moscow of deliberately attacking the dam or by claiming that Russia was at fault only because it was the aggressor in the conflict with Ukraine.  Without offering any proof, Russia accused Ukraine of demolishing the dam while simultaneously denying any role in the catastrophe.
