Kulsuma Akter was the victim of a stabbing in Bradford, and Habibur Masum is still being sought after.

Kulsuma Akter, an Oldham resident of 27 years, was fatally stabbed while wheeling her infant in a stroller through Bradford.

On Saturday, Ms. Akter was attacked in the Westgate neighborhood. According to West Yorkshire Police, her infant was unharmed.

Authorities claimed that while 25-year-old murder suspect Habibur Masum was still at large, a 23-year-old male had been taken into custody on suspicion of aiding an offender.

If someone sees Mr. Masum, the police advised calling 999 "immediately".

At a Monday press conference, Assistant Chief Constable Damien Miller stated that Ms. Akter had been stabbed "multiple times" before she passed away. Her infant, according to him, was "fit and well".

When authorities were sent to Westgate, close to the intersection with Drewton Road, on Saturday at approximately 15:21 BST, they discovered Ms. Akter to be badly injured. After being brought to the hospital, she passed away.

According to authorities, Mr. Masum was captured on camera boarding a bus in Market Street at around 15:00 after the attack.

According to ACC Miller, at roughly 15:42, the suspect alighted from the bus on Killinghall Road and started walking toward Bradford Moor Park.

According to him, this was "the last confirmed sighting".

He said that Mr. Masum would have "most likely paid in cash" and pleaded with any taxi drivers who might have picked him up on Saturday afternoon to come forward.

ACC Miller stated, "I think Masum is still in the country at this time," after verifying that ports and airports have been alerted to be on the watch for him.

A representative for the IOPC stated: "We are assessing the available information to determine whether an investigation into that contact may be required and if so, who should conduct that investigation."

"We share the shock and concern that our communities feel in the wake of this tragic incident," stated GMP Oldham district deputy sergeant Jude Holmes. "Our thoughts are with Kulsuma Akter's family at this truly distressing time."

She stated that "specialist officers" from the force had aided in the search for Mr. Masum.

"I urge members of the public to remain vigilant, and if you have any information on his whereabouts, call 999 as a matter of urgency," she continued.

Although a knife was found at the location on Saturday, the police have not stated if they still think Mr. Masum is armed.

The last sighting of him was with grey tracksuit pants, maroon sneakers, and a duffle coat with three enormous horizontal lines on it. He is characterized as a slender Asian man.

He appears to be a Bangladeshi national who attended the University of Bedfordshire to study digital marketing, according to a Facebook page purportedly belonging to him.

The university opted not to respond or verify if Mr. Masum was enrolled there.

Masum Geo Khan, who owns a nearby fruit and vegetable store, described his attempts to save the victim.

He claimed to have heard screaming and had rushed to assist, only to discover Ms. Akter gravely hurt.

A doctor showed up in a matter of minutes, and we attempted to hand her over,"

"Everywhere, blood was present. I covered her with a sheet that I had until the ambulance came."
